I don’t do a ton of shopping in an effort to start accumulating less ‘stuff’ around the house. It seems inevitable that there will be clutter, especially with a growing family, but I have noticed in recent months that I really am much more intentional about what I purchase. Having said that, I still love the shopping as a past-time. Can we call it a hobby? I love stumbling upon a shop that has also used a similarly edited eye when curating their shelves as I do when I’m filling our home. Wandering a store, discovering thoughtfully collected goodies, displayed in a beautiful or creative way pretty much sums up my ideal afternoon.
Well planned merchandising is somewhat of an art. Creating inspiring displays involves a lot of trial and error, and when done well looks entirely effortless. Whether it’s a simple product massed-out for effect or the architecture of the store itself that creates one-of-a-kind display opportunities, retail spaces are some of my favourite to browse.
